Prof. Francis Boswell Musonda

Prof. Francis Boswell Musonda is a Zambian Archaeologist with extensive contributions to African prehistory, heritage preservation and museology. Joined the Livingstone Museum in March 1973 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Geography. He retired from the service of the National Museums Board in April 2005 at the rank of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and joined the University of Zambia in November 2005 as Senior Lecturer in the then Department of History. He developed programmes in Archaeology at third and fourth year levels which were later extended to cover first and second year. The archaeology programme was further developed to include postgraduate studies in 2015. In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor. His research interests include understanding the mechanisms and dynamics that marked the transformation from hunting and subsistence patterns to a food producing one.
