Ms. Martha Nchimunya Kayuni

Martha Nchimunya Kayuni is a lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Zambia and a PhD candidate at the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology in Germany. She holds an MA in Archaeology from the University of Zambia. Her research explores the transition from the Later Stone Age to the Iron Age in Zambia, focusing on human-environment interactions, early food production, and material culture. She applies multidisciplinary methods, including zooarchaeology, ZooMS, stable isotope analysis, rock art studies, and ethnoarchaeology. Martha has conducted fieldwork in Zambia and South Africa and collaborates with institutions at local, regional, and international levels on projects related to the Stone Age, Iron Age, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, cultural heritage management, and academic capacity building. Her work has been published in journals such as African Archaeological Review and Azania: Archaeological Research in Africa.
